Unified Gulf Traffic Week
It aims to raise traffic awareness for various segments of society, which contributes to reducing traffic accidents in the GCC countries. The Gulf Cooperation Council Traffic Week activities are held every year.
In recognition of their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC states, that the growth and economic prosperity that the GCC countries enjoy can only be achieved and developed in a safe and stable environment, and based on the established principle that the security of the GCC countries is an indivisible whole, royal directives were issued to their highnesses and excellencies the ministers of interior of the countries. The Council shall communicate and coordinate to hold a meeting for them to discuss and study the requirements and mechanisms for security coordination and cooperation among member states. In order to prepare for the meeting, a working group of security experts in the Ministries of Interior was formed. They prepared a draft agenda for the first meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Interior, which dealt with establishing the foundations and rules for meaningful security coordination and cooperation between member states that would achieve the lofty goals of establishing the Council.
The third meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of the Interior of the GCC countries (Riyadh, November 1983) approved the establishment of the “Gulf Cooperation Council Traffic Week,” in which all governmental and private departments and institutions related to the Traffic Week participate.
